Numbers, times & dates
Say the ones before the tens: 45 is fünfundvierzig.
| number | said |
|---|---|
| 21 | einundzwanzig |
| 45 | fünfundvierzig |
| 67 | siebenundsechzig |
| 350 | dreihundertfünfzig |
| 1998 | neunzehnhundertachtundneunzig |
| 2026 | zweitausendsechsundzwanzig |
Years before 2000 are said in hundreds: neunzehnhundert…. On the phone and in announcements you often hear zwo for zwei, so it isn't confused with drei.
Remember
Ones first, then the tens: siebenundsechzig is 67, not 76.
In the exam
In Hören, write a number down as you hear it, ones first. halb acht: half an hour before eight. In a date, listen for -ten or -sten.
